My Tai Chi DVD and Short Cappuccinos

Tonight I saw a B&N published boxed set of a Tai-Chi DVD, flashcards, and booklet, and since I am on an exercise DVD kick of some kind, (baaa-baaa, just like a good little sheep, in with the New Years resolution herd) I jumped on it!

I have not gone through the whole DVD yet, just looked at it briefly. But I found two things very entertaining. Everyone on the DVD is Australian. They even look Australian, and their cute homey voiceover entertains me to no end. The second funny thing is that the man looks like David Duchovny, and the woman like Olivia Newton John. So I feel like I will be doing forms with an Aussie Mulder. I like the sound of that. ;)

Also, D sent me an interesting article today on short cappacinos (or however that's spelled!) and the starbucks economy. It's pretty interesting in illustrating why sometimes cheaper products are badly designed intentionally and why some (like the short or 8 oz cappacino) are incognito. Me, I'm not big on foam - I've even started ordering my Chais without any - but a short latte could be of interest, considering it's *cheaper.* The author of this article makes only one incorrect assumption: stronger coffee is not necessarily what people want. Me, what I'm really buying at Starbucks is flavored milk. I have no illusions as to the silliness of my addiction. Ah but what flavored milk it is!! One shot in a shorter glass? Don't make me gag. Don't make me get all jittery in the next forty seconds! (I drink that much caffeine.) Make mine a tall in a grande cup, if you please. I'm goin solo. :D

Now if only I could locate a convenient Starbucks to spend the $50+ gift certificates I got there and use my ubercool lingo I've practiced so hard. ;) Life is so hard.
